(U.Genie email users face problems accessing email)

Due to scale and length of this fault, we have decided to issue a statement, to inform as many users as possible about the problems they may be experiencing.

Many U.Genie users can not access their email account, with error messages displayed and that their password was rejected on outlook, as below:

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.u.genie.co.uk', Server: 'mail.u.genie.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] invalid user or password', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

Problem accounts are also bouncing email back, saying “User unknown”

We are in talks with O2 to try and resolve this fault with the mail server, though it is proving difficult to find the course at present.

Users with troubled accounts are asked to email their name, contact number, and U.Genie email address to
u.genie@btinternet.com with the subject “please add to fault list”

All we can advise is that users try accessing their email accounts periodically to see if the service has been restored.
